had to install the old school falken wheels onto the 99. One of my tires on my other wheels crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday going from this style with 205 50 15 tires. I really liked the size and the feel of these tires and wheels going to these with 195 50 15. These are on 7inch wheels so that will be a change from the 6inch the other wheels were. I hope I can get used to it I'm just glad I had these all ready to go because the rainy weather is here and the only other wheels I have on hand are not the best in cold wet weather

Silver1 got a new water pump and Spartan3 lite wideband installed and wired to SCT X4 yesterday. All is good there.
However when I backed it outta the shop last night I noticed an oil leak....windage tray....wtf. All was good and checked and test driven and all good, seems it must have been the top of the gasket leaking on the trans side and it seeped out when jacked up for the water pump. Ugh. Ok so all apart again this morning and needing to go get some RTV and clean up and reassemble.
Might go pickup cerakote parts today, but that may not happen. We'll see....

I did the same thing a few years back, I did make the recycler happy and found another replacement.
Happy New Year.

the hose which goes here has a plastic part on it and has some hoses connected do you need the long hose with the arrows pointing to it as well? Don't just say yes if you don't because I know i have the one part with the small hoses, just not sure about the long hose The only thing I'm certain I'm missing are nuts and bolts. I can't say about that long hose because a lot of my engine bay stuff are still in boxes.

contacted SCT support to see about getting the equation for Spartan Wideband added to the X4. They closed my ticket and said its better to call us to resolve this. Finally had a chance to do so today and sadly they confirmed that they cannot do it. Can only use custom analog equation inputs in Livelink Color me disappointed

not being happy with SCT's inability (unability?) to get lambda displayed on the X4 for Spartan3 i came up with somehting myself. if anyone plays with coding and or arduinos they may be interested in this. it took me all day and im stopping here with a theoretical working example. I've got an old arduino uno i can test this with but dont have any screens. i ordered an arduino nano and some screens to actually build this out and use this in car this takes a potentiometer in place of the wideband 0-5v signal until its wired in car. you can rotate the pot to simulate WB movement that signal then needed converted from counts to voltage, it took a while to figure out how to do this accurately and cleanly. i couldnt have done it accurately without this video but plenty of others helped get me this far once voltage was available the linear equation for spartan3 lambda (which is (voltage*0.136)+0.68 if anyone ever needs that) was easily appled with lambda now available AFR is obviously easy to solve for (lambda*fuelstoichAFR=AFR) took me the rest of the morning to learn how to output the data to serial, then the rest of the day to figure out how to output to an OLED screen. thanks to many videos and websites for many necessary bits of information but it still just took a little trial and error with the code to get it all right then i spent some time making the data bigger and a bit more sorted on screen. im done till this can be tested anyone who is interested this little project can be found here : wokwi.com/projects/386936953170272257

So yesterday I installed my little wideband display and it works, but there's something going on with it.
In normal configuration it reads the voltage about 0.5v too high displaying a leaner mixture. Thinking this might have been a code error on my end I connected my laptop and noticed with the USB plugged into the Arduino that voltage discrepancy drops to more like 0.1v too high. I'll be working to figure out what that's all about but it's not a huge deal....just what I've been working on

Woohoo, got the code straight on this wideband display after finding out how to link the internal reference to the 1.1v circuit and that stabilized everything pretty well. Moving on from this project and back to maintenance on our Zs. Wifes car needs a steering rack and a few things.
Then when I have a weekend I'll swap the SVTF IM into Silver1 and get to testing for any issues!

cue the "real men of genius" music right now this one goes out to all the mechanics who tack weld the torque converter nuts in place, Why, because loc-tite was not working. Who makes deez nuts hot? You do mechanic who welds nuts to the torque converter only to once again get cold (so hot, so cold). We salute you mechanics who tack weld nuts to torque converters. Hope your nuts are as blue as the nuts on the torque converter.

Finished up the wiring for the wideband display, updated the code in the above link to what I'm running. This project is complete. AFR is still on the bottom of the display, pic just missed it due to the refresh rate i guess...

Silver1 got an old knuckle swapped in as the passenger side wheel bearing started failing (hella wobbly)
Rear most exhaust hanger at the muffler ripped itself outta the car. I had welded it back on a few years back. So i did the most ghetto "fix" i could come up with with what was onhand without spending a bunch of time on a car thats rusting out....i jammed it back in the hole it created and self tapped a flattened bracket to sandwich it together then migged it on the inside and out of the trunk to keep it together. should last longer than the car does on the road so fuck it

I changed wheel bearings in the knuckles that came off Silver1. I had stopped Friday night after finding one of the wheel bearing retainer clips needed to be replaced and I didn't have any extras.
Yesterday I picked up some clips from Napa and finished the job....kinda. After reassembly and pressing the hub into the new bearing that second assembly still had a bunch of slop!
I wiggled and shimmied it all around and determined that the damn wheel hub is undersized and is slipping in and out of the wheel bearing slightly after being pressed in. It took me two or three times as long to remove the inner wheel bearing from the hub (the hubs all seem to press out and have the inner bearing race stay on the hub which is fine if you're replacing it just cut it and knock it off but I still needed it). So after wrestling that off without mangling it I had a new hub on the shelf and reassembled, all good now. Need to swap knuckles now.
Wife's car water pump weeping, will knock that out today once it's above freezing outside

Wifes car got a new water pump and ATX cooler lines today. I need to clean up the shop from the wheel bearing press job then get Silver1 in for swapping knuckles with the new wheel bearings and new hub.
I'm off tomorrow so I'll probably do a little cold start work on the theevilzx2 tune, but wont be driving it just yet still. After that I'll have some time to revisit the SVTF IM swap stuff and get ready for install in a Z thats actually on the road. Then some more TIG welding practice afterwards I'm sure

Silver1 got the knuckles with new bearings (and one new hub) installed. Noticed that the driver side tie rod end felt shitty so swapped with some lightly used MOOG ones that feel good and re-eyeball alignmented it.
seems its got a power steering weep somewhere near the rack, not quite a leak yet. and there seems to be an engine oil leak thats leaving a few spots. looks to me like its coming from that front corner and coming down through the inner "window" for the "hidden" vertical bolt there so yay guess i need to do that again soon. almost time for an oil change and its still in the crosshairs on the dipstick so gonna run it and keep an eye out for now

I found out my zx2 is not firing on cyl 1&2 which is really wierd, coil would be 1&3 or 2&4, have to take it appart and figure this one out... possible oil leak into plug valley from bad valve cover gasket.
I also found out why it was had a slow oil leak since I got it, whoever worked on it last before I got it installed a oil drain plug that didn't have a gasket on it. and the last place that did an oil change on it never tightened the oil filter enough that it didn't leak...

Hope its just the valve cover oil leak causing your misfire. Would be weird for 1&2 to both be misfiring, as you said, it should have been 1&3 or 2&4 so the issue probably isnt with the coil. YIKES on the oil drain plug not being tightened! At least you dont have to do a windage tray gasket......again

The drain plug wasn't loose, it was the wrong plug (No Gasket). It was the oil filter that was loose.

Another engine and transmission wouldn't be too horrible, I have a spare of each from my 2002, and the ATX is a level10.

pulled the trans from silver1 last night, pulled clutch and flywheel today. definitely the rear main. The old one practially fell out at 275k miles it spun by finger and with a little tug with a pick while spinning it jumped right out. New felpro seal installed. Gonna clean up while the trans is out and take my time going back together while driving silver2

My black car has an appointment with Ford on Tax Day to rebuild the MTX with the MFactory from Allwaysideways and the steel reinforcing plate I made.
When I last had it apart the bearing race fell out.

Nice! I just saw an article by MFactory about an ATB diff theyre working on. Our platform wasn't listed but the focus was of course.
Anyhow I slapped the trans back in silver1 on Sunday and put everything else together after work monday, grabbed some ATF to fil it up yesterday and were back on the road.

Our cars are always more fun when you can actually drive them; I really miss driving the Black Car. I also have my spare head being machined to accept the Ford Racing valves.
