oops, almost forgot to post pics of what the car looks like with the new hubcaps on it these really liven up the look. no effort thankfully because those original ones on the car are awful condition. Plus, the cost of getting these was not much more than what repainting would have cost. Would have needed primer, paint, clear plus the sandpaper and cleaner for the prep. Especially helpful because it is cold outside right now

first day off so trying to get shit done!
silver1 got the fan thermostatic switch replaced, all speeds back.
Removed the RPM window switch from the interior of Silver2 for the SVTF IM project. Then it got new front brake calipers and pads, flushed the res and bled the (front) brakes and clutch. Put new inner and outer tie rods in both sides (balljoints were done back when i got it) so front end is all fresh. I'll put the S/R strut/Progress spring combo in the rear that came off the turbo car tomorrow then go bed in the brakes and try to get an alignment. Oh and I rotated the top hats to max neg camber position as I'm going to do with Silver1 and the wifes Z also. I feel like theyre plowing too much with the position theyre in so I'm setting this car the same way.
Dug through the shop and ended up bringing 5 old wheels/tires to a local shop and got all dismounted and the one good tire remounted to a ZX2 swirlie rim, I've got a matching swirlie rim and tire and these two will go on the front of the wifes Z soon

Silver2 got TheEvilZX2's old S/R /progress spring combo installed in the rear finally Bled the rear brakes, they probably need replaced and tuned up and probably needs at least the driver side ebrake cable and it wouldnt hurt to do sway bar end links all the way around. Gonna test drive and bed these brakes in here in a bit then see if I can get it in for an alignment this week

Silver1 got strut mounts rotated and driver side steering rack bushing replaced (since i only did the bad one last time). Shook down the front end and cant find any play. Driver ball joint a little suspect as the boot isnt really sealing, greased everything and that one was mostly coming out. Will be test driving here soon and maybe the balljoint is what I've been feeling...idk...

yay, this little blue car passed emissions testing. Now to clean it up, put the stuff back into the trunk and sell this little car. This car only took as long as it has because i have not been giving it attention for over two months. Hopefully the new owner will use it more than i have been
ps, this is a premium sound car which did not have the changer installed in the trunk. I understand why ford did this with the wagon but not with the zx2 or 4door but, for some reason some cars did come like this. No worries though, adding changer is as simple as install changer with the correct zx2 brackets (4door are different) and plug it in. The wiring end is already there

Yesterday had the slot MAf welded to the 3in pipe for SVTF IM swap. Also had the elbow welded for brake booster on the 2.75in pipe to finish up my "super stock" intake for Silver2. Today I'll start with cleaning up the pipes and install the 2.75 in Silver2. I need to drill and open the pipe for the slot maf and clean up a little spot where the gasket seats, the TIG arc blew some alum up over it on the thin side that needs taken down. We threw it in his CNC yesterday to face it but his monitor shitted out oh well, I'll do it manually no biggie. Then back to the heatshield for the SVTF intake. Whenever I'm happy or tired of working on that I'll get started on the things TheEvilZX2 needs and will be posting more in the build log. Oh and Elliott (aprophetofone) will be cerakoting Sunday the remaining SVTF IM install parts. So hopefully by next week I can install the whole thing in Silver1 and get to testing and looking for any issues

Removed the Sniper tuned LXQ1 from Silver2, installed CIL2 (thanks dareall!) then tuned it with the "Best Free" tune, the same one thats in Silver1 currently with some fan temps modified and the shift light enabled. Verified all is good then buttoned it back up.
Going to reset all adaptations on both and test drive shortly

Silver1 drives great, less load taper off at higher RPM but still tapers off.
Silver2 drives great as well, and is slowly feeling better but has stock manifold and cat and exhaust so the engine feels so nonresponsive (compared to what I'm used to lmao) so the SVTF header thats getting cerakoted will go in this car I think. Just need to finish up the crossmember so it could be swapped. Also installed a new shift boot in Silver2 when I swapped it to CIL2. Shift light lights on dash with key on, but didnt function when I drove it. Gonna doublecheck tune settings and get back on that tomorrow.
Received some fresh fog lights for the wifes GreenZ (thanks again dareall!) so will be wiring and installing them tomorrow. Have new headlights for her car and will install with new bumper and fenders when I have more time to work with her car

Fixed shift light in Silver2, missed changing one 0 to a 1.
Moved onto the wife's GreenZ, installed fog lights, ran fog light harness, secured harness with zip ties, connected harness to fog light pigtails, connected harness to battery ground, crimped on a fuse tap and gave power from one of the headlights. Finished by running the control switch into the cabin and left it hanging for now up near the turn signal

finally got some zx2 stuff done today. I started with my 00 because it has some polk speakers which have decided to finally cross the rainbow bridge. Thankfully i use the correct speaker wire adapters so unplugging them from old speakers and plugging it onto the new speakers was easy. Changing out both speakers took less than 30 minutes because i had to listen to the radio for a while to make sure it sounded good RIP POLK speaker 2007 - 2023 I wanted to get more car work done but while hearing the radio the weather report noted that it will rain next week for a few days. This news means i have to pick some stuff up in the yard and put it away. Also means i have to get some work done tomorrow as that may be the only day i have rain free for a few more days the blue car will get attention today and tomorrow. That part is good because it is almost done. I have already had the windshield replaced so that part is good. Just changed out the torn up visor so now the interior is done. The only things needed to be done were to put the trunk back together. This is a premium sound car but one of those premium sound cars without the changer installed from the factory. Here is what that looks like having premium sound in the car means the amp is there and the wiring is there so all that is needed to complete the package is to install the changer. To install the changer you need to ensure you get the correct zx2 brackets, the 4 door version are different. After taking off the package tray, the changer was installed and now the premium sound is complete if you look closely you will see the spare tire in the pic. I had to find one of those to put with this car as it did not have. Cleaned out the trunk, put the spare in its place, put the jack in its place, put the trunk floor in there as well after gluing the foam back into place then finished it with the correct carpet for a 99. Woot woot, it looks good in there and is now done the car runs great and everything works. The only thing left to do is replace the serpentine tensioner as it currently has the autozone version and those really suck. This will be changed out with the correct unit tomorrow when the sun is out

whew, finally got that tensioner swapped out and the car is now done. It needs floor mats but i think i have some aqua ones in my black 00 so i can put those inside later. These things are a pain to change out and took a while to do. Haz to move the power steering out of the way to do this. If the power steering has never been removed before it is easier to remove the bracket holding the pump with the pump attached. Only 4 bolts/nuts this way. Thankfully i have removed the pump before and did not reinstall the bolt behind the pump hose. Dont really need that bolt there and it helped in this situation. to all of you who need to replace the tensioner, DO NOT GET THE ONE WHICH LOOKS LIKE THE ONE ON THE LEFT. These are available at autozone and are useless. The tension is too low. The belt will pop off if gets wet, the belt will slip and chatter with the ac on and turning the car, will also emphasize the vibration at stops

so this ugly grey car i got haz a key but it only works in the ignition. The ignition was likely changed and the previous owners werent smart enough to change all the locks I had a set of doors/trunk locks sitting around and finally found those and two keys for them I can put these on the car and the car will just have two keys now. Does not have remote entry so will add that to help the next owner of this car

finally figured out the last known mileage of this ugly black sr I am putting back together. I went through all the sr clusters I have and found one which is close to the mileage but too low. Can't take the car in like this as it will come up as odometer tampering if lower than the last reading. I put this cluster into another car to drive it around and raise the mileage a few thousand miles before i can put it into the ugly s/r. Unfortunately it does not go without a hitch or two (or three or more) this cluster has a few lights out in it. so there is that problem. Not too bad. Mostly an easy fix. Also note that the fuel gauge is reading at that level. I put in a little more than 10 gallons and that is what shows up. The problem is not the sending unit so i have to check this out while replacing the lights and getting the cluster ready for the other car. at first I thought the fuel gauge issue was the little board on the back of the cluster as that is supposed to control the gauge and keep it steady. I was about to take it out but got a little distracted with this yes, you are seeing this correctly. The circuit board is burned out in a few spots. I don't know why it is burned out but maybe the crashed sr i parted out had a wiring issue? This has been played around with before though. If you look closely you will notice that someone installed the light into the spot for the shift indicator. I don't think this would cause that issue but who know. This feature is not turned on for the zx2 and no clusters I have seen for the zx2 have had this bulb installed oh well, I fixed this with another cluster I had from the recent part out car i have. Will test it out tomorrow to make sure everything works now. I really dont want to run out of gas

I've never seen a ZX2 with the shift light stock, but I do turn it back on with SCT and use them in my MTX ZX2s and have never seen that. Definitely something else happened there

What do you'll think of the YouTube video? Is it worth upgrading my radiator to the Mishimoto? I'm trying to find the below item (circled in red) in the tech manual, but since I don't know the name of it and it's not showing up when through master brake cylinder, I'm hoping you'll can help.

Vacuum assist brake booster, usually just referred to as a brake booster (there are versions of them that use hydraulic pressure from power steering, usually called hydro boosters).
A good aftermarket radiator isn't a bad idea, but nothing is going to be bolt on, it's going to take some fab work and buying one meant for a different car (or universal). MotoIQ has a pretty good generalized video for cooling system upgrades.
I think Ben swapped out to a different radiator later on his car (I believe to represent a sponsor of the build/channel)

the hose which goes here has a plastic part on it and has some hoses connected do you need the long hose with the arrows pointing to it as well? Don't just say yes if you don't because I know i have the one part with the small hoses, just not sure about the long hose

With sufficient airflow (fans) I've not had any issues with overheating. Ben has tracked his ZX2 so I'm sure it gets beat on more than mine just going WOT here and there off and on.
I'd LOVE a big fat radiator going forward but haven't found that it's necessary just yet for me anyhow. When I was first turboing the EvilZX2 I actually built a 3in radiator out of cardboard and modified a header panel to fit it and was going to have a company (Be Cool I think it was) make me a custom radiator. It didn't happen but if I ever upgrade I'll put a big fat one in.

Wifes car got an oil change and new PCV ends, replaced the plastic PCV line with some aluminum line.
Ran the Lightning 42# injectors that came out of the turbo car in a buddys test bench. Found cyl4 was a little weak at low pulse widths and cyl1 was a bit weak at high pulse widths. Cyls 2 and 3 were solid. Gonna run some SVTF 30# injectors through it and match up the best performing ones.
Wired up a relay to take power from the 30A power door lock fuse and be triggered by the Meter fuse for powering things while the engine is cranking. I'm going to wire it to a little fuse distro block to try and keep things tidy. Finished up the underhood stuff for the Spartan wideband, need to swap this all over to Silver1 and then I'll finish the inside wiring
