we all seem to be riding the struggle bus here lately.
silver1 is back together, kinda. it would have been done and been tested by now but i came home and went out to the shop to find the oil pan buckled and is leaking. anyhow i put crossmember and axles and everything back in then drained the oil and just pulled the oil pan.
ill install the wifes old oil pan tomorrow morning and test rear main seal leakage. i ran a tap through this pan (this was the one leaking around the drain plug) and it seems good with a nice new drain plug bolt but i guess we'll see

I worked on the S/R yesterday and installed the transmission. After all the work on the fiddy, it is a no go as it does not match TDC.
The machine shop did a great job on the fly wheel. All is installed except for the passenger side axle and connecting the positive terminal.

Silver1 was buttoned up yesterday and didnt leak from rear main after initial testing and a few starts. I put new headlights in it then dropped it back on the ground.
Moved it around and checked headlight alignment last night then left it parked. Will be going to double check there are no rear main leaks
Wife said this wasnt taken off insurance for the month so I may just start driving it again

yay, replaced front crank seal. I have been having oil under the hood so i changed this out. I may have to change out the vct cam gear gasket as well Unfortunately, the issue i had last week with this car may have caused more damage than i initially thought. The overheat condition is responsible for the gaskets leaking. The water pump may also be bad now as well. The 99 has the p0420 and the p0171. These may be due to the header installed so putting the factory exhaust back on may also be in the works just so i can figure out the issue the car is having. May need to change out maf as the car was sputtering and sounding like crap for a few minutes until i revved the crap out of it and it started running well again. I really hope i dont need to change out the engine again

I got the 2001Black yesterday. The fiddy destroyed the CPS and the stock fly wheel is installed, why after all the years I've been driving this way...
Mechanic said the back brakes are not seized but did not turn very easy. No reverse or 5th gear, I knew this as I cancelled an appointment with Ford to rebuild the tranny (LSD).
I drove it home slowly using back streets. I'll work on the brakes next.

Curious what Dareall thinks of this....

Curious what Dareall thinks of this.... since the fidanza main body is made of aluminum it has a tone ring bolted to it which is steel. There have been incidents which the tone ring bolts have come loose and the tone ring hits the crank sensor because of this, thread lock should be used for the install. I actually have a new fidanza which i am about to install but have only hesitated because i need to by some loc-tite it does suck to hear that the trans needs rebuild now

decided to drive the 99 today to see if the maf change helped. It appears the maf change had an effect on the car when it would usually start acting up. Hopefully, that was the issue. It does sound like the header gasket is broken so will check that later. i was driving like this to listen for the sound also met up with a flake seller to buy a part to fix my 00 which took a crap on me a couple weeks ago this idiot had a head rebuilt but sold his car before installing the head. the score included new head bolts and a gasket kit for head rebuild valve stem seals already installed so all i haz to do is install the head. the best part about this score is that it happens to be a head for the 98/99 style timing kit. Whew, because that is the style it is replacing and the style i like to use on personal cars because 98 had a lot of superior parts. This was a good deal for me even though this flake seller literally took 2 months to follow up about this. His stupid ass claimed he did not read my complete message. That is a sure sign of a flake fail of a seller. Either way, I got gasket set for head rebuild, new head bolts and rebuilt head. Now i can plan a day to install these onto my 00 which is in need

Was a bit worried about that and bolt clearance when rebuilding mine in the turbo car, had to make some fasteners and used purple threadlocker. So far so good.

i got bored so i went outside to wash the black sr. Finally got around to fixing the license plate lights. Needed bulbs and housings to fix this problem while i was at it, I adjusted the window so it closes without hitting the door and had to fix the mirror again because neighbor german shepherd jumps over the fence and broke the mirror after i fixed it the other time. Also did not like the feel of the clutch pedal so adjusted the pedal height to match the brake pedal height and take the play out of the pedal. the more i move this car around and the more i do to it, the more i find i have to do to it. This circle of life means i have to make the time to adjust the rear brakes so the brake handle does not go so high to engage. Maybe will do that tomorrow when i look into why the fog lights dont light up

The mechanic said crank was in spec. I bought the fiddy used on Team ZX2 back in the day...you can see where the ring plate bolts rubbed against the the rear main seal casting.
I bought the tranny used from Alwayssideways ages ago. The first time I replaced the 3-4 fork the main bearing race fell out of the housing.
When I take it for rebuild, I will have the spare tranny in the trunk for spare parts. I will buy a new ZX3 aluminum fly wheel.
