Silver1 fan stopped working on the way into work this morning, made it without issue cuz it was nice and traffic wasn't bad yet. Get to work and find I don't have my multimeter or electrical tools so yay. Was able to do some testing with a bit of wire and determined that my ground connection was NFG. Cut and crimped a new terminal for the ground. Keep having problems with that ground shitting out. Probably should get a fan connector instead of using these spade terminals....

my buddy with silver3 came by to hang out and wanting to learn more about the ZX2s watched/helped me with doing the driver side wheel bearing, hub, tie rod and ball joint in the wifes car. we hung out for a bit and installed some speakers he was given in the doors of silver3

forgot to mention that silver1 had a runaway starter yesterday. it was cold (it was hot out but a "cold start") and i could hear the starter still running. moved it after my buddy left with silver3 yesterday and it was still going on. went out this morning and its fine now. started it a ton of times and its not running away anymore. cant find any wiring issues, my pushbutton starter switch is working as intended as well.....weird. will reluctantly drive it to work tomorrow lol so i bought some of that Wheely Clean stuff as seen on the internet and that shit works quite well! cleaned two ZX2 swirlie wheels, outward facing wasnt bad but had spots in the corners that i couldnt get off with normal products and this took those right up. did the inside of each wheel twice as they were really caked up and bad and im glad to report this stuff removed just about all of the junk. could maybe do more but im happy. will rehab some more wheels ive got in the shop and probably order more for future use. outsides after inside before (those clean lines you see are from it seeping down from spraying and cleaning the outside first) inside after 1 pass inside after 2 passes anyone got a contending product for wheel grime cleaning?

the thin one goes against the block with those hollow dowels used to hold it in place. This part is used for both auto and 5speed applications. the thicker one is the spacer used for 5speed. This one goes between the first shim and the trans. It simply sits in place on the alignment dowels

the wheels turned out nice. How much pressure did you have to apply to the brush while cleaning? I just cleaned up a couple swirlies and that shizz took forever. The crusty wheels i had to clean were a combo of dried up dirt, grease and even looked rusty. Could literally chip most of it off
ps, why you no haz 4 matching tires. those walmart tires are okay but not speed rated for any action. that yokohama is the same deal

very little pressure was needed where the buildup was minimal, but where they were all caked up had to be worked down and more stuff applied. if the buildup was minimal it would have been just like this guys video (which helped convince me to buy this stuff to try) : as for the wheel/tire combo mismatches they both came off different cars. actually one of those tires is the one with tread seperation that just came off the wifes Z. the other one is just a spare wheel/tire from the shop i decided to try cleaning. i tend to just buy used tires for my daily/beater but it did just get those new 195/55/15 Toyos put on. eventually im sure one of those will end up floating around the shop as a spare. hell i still have TheEvilZX2's factory black painted swirlies with 12+ year old tires on them in the shop that have been used as spares in time of need lol

decided to do this today because the weather was nice and i had nothing to do power steering is leaking so had to clean this up too. was awful, dirty and greasy cleaned a little bit of this side while i was at it got the trans out but that was some work. the axles did not want to come out so my plan of taking engine out with trans had to change. Had to take trans off with the axles in and wrong fasteners installed. Idiot po put smaller bolts through some parts going the opposite direction then to top it all off, the po expanded the clips for the axles so they took extra effort to remove now to prepare to remove custom exhaust and replace with factory exhaust hopefully no suprises

Those parts were designed to go the way i described but will work if in the wrong order. The important part is the install of the spacer as it is specific for the 5 speed

P0455 back again in silver1. changed the fitting on the charcoal canister from last go around to the one that came out and installed properly sized silicone line. while it was apart though i smoked the system again, this time from the splitter (plugged the fuel tank side) and verified no leaks up to the canister purge valve then smoked the gas tank side and no leaks either. so i guess im dealing with a sensor issue or the purge valve or canister vent solenoid.
i dont remember if ive got control of the vent and purge with with forscan so i guess i'll be checking the pressure senor via computer and jumping the vent and purge valves to test operation

oh i checked all that when it first started coming up and the dry rotted hose was replaced a few weeks ago. silver1 is rusty, there is 100% rust on just about everything lol. the filler neck and the vent are rusty but arent leaking. i had a few PSI of smoke in each side of system and not a single leak. im really surprised at that based on all the rust, seriously. part of the reason i smoked it again a bit more securely this time as first go around both tests leaked around where i was connected and testing, yesterday 100% secure and no leaks somehow. there is also no fuel smell around the vehicle anywhere
the smoke machine showed 0 flow on each side when connected and smoking. lights out with laser and UV lights for inspection shows there is no leak. popped the gas cap off and shit loads of smoke came out and flow meter pegged, same thing smoking from the rear back up to the canister purge valve. no leaks somehow....
i wouldnt be surprised at all if this ends up behing wiring issues if nothing is actually wrong with the vent valve

can you just tune that thing out with sct? a lot easier than trying to make greenies happy lol

LOL it could be turned off with SCT but that would of course be for off road use only youd have to reroute some hoses and whatnot if you were gonna do all that lol so i ended up verifying 12v and GND at the vent valve with key on and its not closing, vent valve is stuck open. smoked the charcoal canister with my buddy with silver3 here and it seems its just the vent valve thats stuck open....its also leaking around it a bit on the charcoal canister. so we threw some black housing headlights in silver3 with some nice LED bulbs and fixed his windshield wiper arm that came loose (crazy females ), threw some LED lights in the reverse lights and i had some spare white LED bulbs for tag lights so we swapped them out too/ oh and i got to do a lil welding magic to save the front bumper on the passenger side (pulled the rusty inserts thru the expanded plastic in the bumper)

yay, fixed mirror on black sr, changed out last lock on it so now haz 4 matching locks again and replaced power window regulator because original decided it no longer wanted to cooperate ps, also drove the car about 150 miles today, its first drive on the roads. might need some alignment tuning and some other little tweaks around the car but the drive was mostly uneventful

Was able to unfuck this by taking the dowels off and slipping the thicker spacer over the thinner one without having to remove the flywheel. Thanks again, guys!
