darn p1506 is still going i had the rpm below 1k when i was getting the car going and even had it at that rpm while i was checking the ac. i thought it would be something simple as this little hose because i did not like the way it looked when i was looking at it. you can tell it was pinched or something like this so it just broke in half when i touched it. I was hoping this was all which was causing the vacuum leak the p1506 would suggest at the iac. unfortunately, this fix was not that easy. I'm going to dig out the new iac i have and install it. maybe i will get lucky this time around. on the plus side, the dash vents blow out air again now that this is fixed

i think i figured out the p1506 today. that small vacuum hose should have taken care of the issue but it did not. i had replaced the iac and even cleaned out the original to no avail. i was going to look for another one i know i have but while i was looking for it i was also thinking of other things it could still be. I thought it may have to do with the wiring as the rabbits/squirrels did do this before i did fix all the wiring for the intake so this should not really be an issue. I've had this car sitting for so long i did forget that it did look like this when i got it. due to the condition i received the car in originally i decided to remove the throttle body and check it out. this is likey where the issue has been hiding. i guess the same people who think this is necessary for thermostat housing and valve cover gaskets think this is needed on the throttle body too i cleaned this stuff off the throttle body and cleaned the rest of it while i was at it. my reward for doing this is the idle back to where it should be and the car running well as it should

Glad you're saving it. It's dusty, chewed up and slathered in RTV unnecessarily. Poor car

drove this little green car 60 miles today in an attempt to set the monitors to pass emissions testing. the car did great on the interstate at 85. unfortunately, only one of the monitors needed have set so i likely have to drive it further. The short throw i made for it feels nice but sitting in the factory seat is strange after all these years using mx3 seats. Using the factory head unit is also strange. It was hot today so i really do need to figure out the ac. I'll look into it some more tonight

I worked on the 2001Black yesterday to no avail, still no spark hence, no start.
I'm considering replacing both the coil and fuel rail pigtails.
I did finish the shifter repair and it works fine.
Today, I will pull the seats and clean the carpet and install the shifter trim.

sad face, i have to change out horn pad on green 98 because it went off in the middle of the night i remember getting pwned with knowledge one time before when this person told me that she had hit the horn so hard that it was like the airbag going off and that is why the horn keeps honking. Maybe i did the same thing?

had to put some of the grey car interior back together today. part of that putting back together included twisting the seat belt back to its correct orientation. How do people get them twisted up like they do anyway? also took more of the 99 apart for engine replacement and drained out 10 year-old oil. This car was really put together badly I really feel its pain. Oh well, having found all the correct parts for it is something to look forward to when putting it back together so at least there is that

Silver1 just got a new passenger side wheel hub, and i threw a new wheel bearing in there too even though it was probably still good since it was changed recently. gonna do new front brakes and put the new tires on the ICW wheels on then get it dropped off for an alignment.
i put the other inner tie rod in the wifes car earlier in the week and when done shook the front end down and guess what? she needs front wheel bearings too lol. passenger side is worse and driver side is just starting to show some play

my buddy came by with silver3, it had a noisy rear wheel bearing, we changed both rear bearings and cleaned the ABS sensors really well as they were caked up. i gave him some LED lights for the dome and map lights and we changed them out as well while he was here

forogt that because silver2's battery keeps dying i did a parasitic loss test and everything checked out good. weird. it does just sit alot but it dies so fast for a new battery.
i also checked silver1 for any reason for the P0455 thats been cleared and triggered twice now. preliminary checks show the charcoal canister vacuum line just being denigrated and flaky and soft. so i went to replace that line and used the charcoal canister i had onhand from the 98 to match up what line to use, well i learned that the 98 charcoal canister has a smaller elbow on it than the later models. somehow got the smaller line on the bigger Y fitting closer to the tank but couldnt on the charcoal canister side so i ended up swapping out the elbow to get it back together. it still needs realignment. also this thing is fucking rusty, holy shit! i shoulda took a pic

yay, went to a local yard to get some trim parts for the trunks of 3 cars i am in the progress of. Instead, found a set of 2 matching tires for the set I already had in my parts. They are the same size, brand, age and similar wear. Very hard to tell they were not all purchased at the same time. Just mounted them onto a set of swirlies even though they are not correct for the car. I was having a hard time deciding which wheels I would put onto the green 98 but that dilemma is now over

cleaned up some of the 99 i am putting back together. door jamb was a mess. i really should have taken a before pic with all the dirt and spiderwebs. After vacuuming up some of the interior, installed the correct passenger side seat the racing seats which are in the car were installed poorly. The passenger side had factory rails but since they have closer mounting holes only the right side bracket would line up in the floor. The left side was left unbolted, blue tooth style about 2-3 inches from the mounting holes. The driver seat is really no better Here is how the solution to this issue looks like for this reason, these seats are coming out and the factory style are being reinstalled. The problem with the factory style is that the car is a 99 and only the 99 had the zx2 embroidered onto the seatbacks like the 99 sport interior had. I had to buy two cars to get the set of seats for this car. Could not find in a yard and did not want to take out of the gold car. Finding correct parts is some work but worth it when the car is done

Last Sunday was the Veterans Hospital annual car show where I enter the S/R and cook food for veteran residents at the hospital.
Cleaned the car and took it to the car wash where I had a free wash. The clutch pedal was causing problems, still I made it home.
Needs a new clutch. I found an ACT clutch while cleaning and organizing my parts...

had to change out the oil and install header and strut tower bar into the 99 today sounds good again also took the green car in for emission testing and did not pass. Too much carbon output. To make things worse, the idiot emissions tech broke the shifter housing because dumbass pushed it down real hard thinking it was a honda. Idiot! now i have to fix that too when i do the other work to it

almost forgot, while there was some shade and some breeze i was under the tree getting the driver seat ready for the other 99. I had to clean it off and change out the seat bottom with the one from the grey car because it is stained and i cant get them all out. It wont matter too much in the grey car. Besides that, I have another seat bottom in the parts bin, just have to find it if i change my mind

silver1 threw a P0455 again. gonna see if this smoke tester my buddy left here works this weekend i guess.

snapon smoke test machine didnt work, it cut off after a few seconds running. i bought an amazon one to continue with that testing.
the wifes car doesnt fail to keep me busy lately, rear passenger tire tread started separating causing the car to shake at speed. swapped with one of the wheels/tires that just came off of silver1. we ordered her parts to finish her front end (driver side) so she can get an alignment. might look for some new tires while were at it...
gonna throw a vacuum on silver1 AC system and see if i can find a leak

smoke tester still not delivered yet so i rigged up shop air to the AC system in silver1 and found the leak. its the rubber hose going across the rad from the compressor. its just the rubber. maybe ill cut the pipe back and weld an AN fitting on to redo with some steel braided PTFE AN line and reroute it away from the SVTF manifold. thats where it failed.....idk not today but I may do that eventually....maybe...
as for the EVAP leak, ill work on tracking that down another day
