Finally got back to work on the car got the transmission pulled and found that the clucth disc was stuck(like glued)to the green coating on the fidenza flywheel. The first sentence in the instructions in bold letters is do not remove coating ,im not sure why it happened but cleaned the coating off with some lacquer thinner reassembled and it worked perfectly. Now i can finish putting the interior back in,hood on,and get it on the road

Had to go back and look up the fiddy flywheel.....mine didnt have any green coating on it ever. I looked up online and see some have a green coating over the friction material, what the hell is that? Ive even got a new (had it for years) fiction disc thats not green either. Just curious what changed? Did you buy the fiddy new? Or came in the car like that?

i found the instructions on fidanzas website, and yeah they say :
"Fidanza Performance flywheels come with a specializedgreenfriction surface coating to protectthe friction surfacefrom contaminantsduring installation. ** Do not attemptto remove thisprotective coating. **This specialized coating will vaporizeduring initialclutch engagement and will not leave residueon the friction surface, resulting ina cleaner mating surface and better contact duringthe embedding process. "
so thats something new...hell they could have started doing that like 10 years ago and it would still be news to me lol. like i said mine new didnt come with the green stuff and ive got a replacement friction plate in the shop that doesnt have any of that stuff on there either.
glad you got it straightened out

Yup it was new bought it about 6 monthes ago sat in the box sealed untill now. Out of curiosity i googled fidenza/clutch sticking and there were alot of post on mazdaspeed sites and miata sites saying the same thing happening. The only thing i can think of is that its a rust protector like the coated rotors your not soposto clean them either but i would prefer not to take the trans out 2 or 3 times for that issue.

What's the worse taking that coating off. I heard having that flywheel rpms can really jump when giving gas when engaging the clutch.

Took the project car on its first drive, only had one problem not sure if its a weird coincidence if the alternator is going bad or if this is common with the underdrive crank pully.......but while the car is idling its not charging but driving down the road its putting 14 volts out Anyone else have a similar issur ?

Which udp are you using? I heard this with powders but a standard 100mm (I believe) should be ok as long as there is not a high load.

definitely wont charge at idle with the powder pulley. could run an ODP on the alternator. i always raised the idle to about 900 rpm without an alt ODP to barely stay at 12v with the headlights on.

Went to the salvage yard to check out the escort inventory and found a 2003 mazdaspeed protege.....pulled the trand for $56. Hopefully the lsd is still good in it to swap into my zx2 trans

i do believe mazdaspeed protege LSD should work just fine. some people break them at higher horsepower, ive heard folks weld them for reinforcement.
focus is definitely different spline. were more like the mazda 323/626/protege usually.

They are 28 spline instead of 26 but your soposto use mx-3gs axles or kia sephia there the correct spline 28 inboard and 26 at the wheel, when i looked at rockauto the mazdaspeed protege had the same specs as the mx-3gs axle so i want to go back and grab thoes axles
Went to another salvage yard today and got another 19mm rear sway bar for one of the other zx2's amd a sparco shifter knob for the one im driving

Sandblasted the rear sway bar i got last weekend and it turned out to be a 21mm not a 19mm,a nice little surprise

I completely understand with the cold. My motivation is out the window right now. Cold garage = unmotivated. Here in Minnesota, this is our coldest time of the year right now.
That's a nice surprise you have a 21mm vs 19mm. I remember back in the day, everyone would argue which one was better. Some like the 22mm that Zxtuner had.

ive always rocked the 21mm bar. ive got a spare 19 and a 21 in the shop too i think. ive always ran fairly grippy 205 tires and have lifted the inside rear wheel under hard cornering lol

ultimately yes. might put them on my daily for a little testing first though.
i gotta buy an HID kit before i can finish these up. everything is pretty much ready as far as the projectors go, just need the bulbs and HIDs so i can level off the cutoff line and tighten the projectors down and seal them back up. today i loomed the wires for the cutoff and the switchback halos so you cant see the wires reflecting in the housing anymore.

My ZX2 is back to service as daily driver until the Buick is repaired... The Buick got rear ended by a Dodge Ram Pickup about 3 weeks ago, I'm OK, no injuries. I was waiting on oncoming traffic to turn into the street the parking for my hobby shop is on and the driver of the truck didn't stop in time to keep from hitting my car. She had her Husky in the truck with her and I think the Dog distracted her.

Thanks, and thankfully AAA is not totaling the Buick, even tho it's a 2004. good thing is it has no rust, and low mileage (Under 100,000 miles on it).

Never heard of it either but seems like a cheap clutch brand.

That's the thing it looks identical to the centerforce clutch so I was wondering if it's just a rebadged piece
