passenger side bolt came right out, drivers side wouldnt budge with an impact from up top as i normally do so i was getting it to move with a 1/2in ratchet and about a quarter of the way out it just snapped on me. the underside of the bolt is rusty, but not extremely so....and i soaked everything before getting started with amsoil. fist time ive had one of these break...shame its not the passenger side, that would have been easier to drill out from below....

less of a pain than removing the subframe to get to it from the top...i think anyhow. biggest pain for me was getting the hole in the subframe from underneath perfectly straight, i ended up drilling one or two more holes than i would have liked to. thankfully i already had an extended length carbide burr to get the bottom of that bolt flat enough to get a drill in it straight, that factory bolt is tapered on the end. i did have an issue with the 4mm drill bit flexing/walking and ending up a few degrees off at the top side but it was a 6in long 4mm drill bit and i was certainly putting my shoulder into it. i did loose a few threads up top due to that when all was done but theres more than enough threads in there to do the job.

Finally got around to re-sealing the upper oil pan on the Gray 01 and wouldn't you know, more problems... Found a leaking water pump and bad idler pulley (the grooved one of course). This car has been a pain... First the idiot that backed into it took 6 months to repair it and now this... Originally this was going to be a fix a couple things and get rid of it. The old owner broke the heater door and cut a few of the radio wires (now fixed). It also had no belt on it because someone forgot to tighten the water pump pulley bolts when I got it. Will be glad when this car is done and gone...

Getting there, the car won't be parked up at the shop as that will be used for work but it's nice to have my tools organized and floor clean and solid to work with

Tracking wiring issues down one by one. Prior owner left stuff loose all over. I think I need to fiddle with the wiring at the alternator if I wiggle it the car charges and stays good for a bit then rattles loose again. Nuts are tight so Ill need to poke more. Ground is good. does need trans mounts front and rear replaced so Im not sure if Im just wiggling stuff loose from all the moment.

Found out the leak on the 99 is not the trans pan gasket... It has a leak from the pump gasket due to loose bolts... Tightening them did not help, need to get the pump resealed.

So the wifes car popped a pinhole leak in one of the rear hard brake lines going across the rear subframe and was towed home yesterday. I found the leak and was going to just fab up a new line but then looked closer and found that one of the feed lines to the distribution block is rusted and leaking as well. Ordered some lines so i can replace it all the way up to the master cyl, maybe both rear lines if i have enough line left.
anyone replaced one of these lines from front to back? last one i removed was on the gold zx2 that i'll be scrapping and everything else was all ready out of the way. How much trouble am i getting myself into this weekend? lol

Oh what fun you are in for. You need to drop the fuel tank to replace the rear brake lines if you are going to put them back in the factory location.

just finishing up now....bypassed that one mounting point between the fuel tank and the body lol but hit all the rest. didnt have to go all the way up to the master cyl thankfully, its good from there back till under the middle of the car so i was able to flare both lines and run new lines with a union.
heading back out to start bleeding and looking for any leaks

Quick head check, I haven't diagnosed yet just caught it today and would appreciate any thoughts on if I'm aiming right. So I started the car this afternoon to run some errands and the tach pops off the bottom of the gauge but only to about 200rpm and doesn't follow the engine just sets there. I have a wireless scan tool in the obd2 so I turned it on and confirmed the PCM is seeing rpm (I figured it would be as it started but didn't know if the it would start off the cam sensor if it didn't see the crank sensor). I'm thinking I have a spare cluster I can just swap to see and if that's all I'll swap the tach to the correct piece. Make sense? Or am I missing something. All else I can figure is if the wire between the pcm and the cluster is shorted/open

If the engine runs then your crank sensor is definitely getting a signal to the pcm. Cam sensor would just throw a code if it wasnt communicating.
So if the engine is running properly and the tach isnt id say youre on the right track. The tach module in the cluster itself, loose connection, or a damaged wire in between the cluster and the pcm would be the likely culprits.
