I just traded a motorcycle for some cash and a very clean pair of evo seats. The Facebook group has given some info, but I guess I'll come over here and ask so I can help populate the search results. Does anyone have any info on putting 2008 Evo seats in a ZX2? What exactly do I have to modify and where should I start?

I like EVO seats, never took any apart though. If it was me id start by taking the rails/bracket off of the bottom of a ZX2 seat and seeing how you can adapt it to an EVO seat.
Never seen anyone put an EVO seat in a ZX2. My 98 project car came with a Scion XB seat welded to ZX2 seat rails. That was the first thing i swapped out of that car, what a terrible seat and position...
Get us some pics of the EVO seats, IDK what it looks like under there....

Pics pics! Send pics now! I put some 1st gen Eagle Talon TSi seats in a buddy's ZX2. Made a couple steel brackets that all bolted in. From what I've seen at the jy's, these new seats have no separate rails and seat frame. Seems like when you are able to get the rails off, the entire seat pan falls apart.
I have some FiST seats I want to put in, but haven't had the time to finger how to do it yet

So, I actually took the subframe for the seat off. There is no way to adapt the ZX2 subframe to be used with the EVO seats since the way they are fastened is different. I decided to try to use steel flatbar to make my own makeshift seat bracket. I asked around on Facebook to see if anyone there had some experience with this stuff before and had some advice. I was a little bit unhappy with the responses I received, so I continued with the idea that if it didn't work, I would go for premade seat brackets and only lose about $25 in steel.
I have learned this so far: Start with designing a rectangle out of steel flat bar that fits the holes on the floor, then elongate or shorten the pieces in the design to reach the seat studs. Make a mock up out of cardboard or wood, and when that works, finally use steel.
Pics (hopefully):
. . Where it looks like the whole bracket is floating, there is a long bolt with a spacer that supports the seat. Way stronger than one would think.
When I do this for the driver's side I will: - Weld the bracket pieces together instead of stacking them where they mount to the floor.
- Get rid of the weird sensor things and weld larger pieces onto the bracket to adapt to the seat mounting studs.
- Remove the useless airbag, lol
- Paint to stop rust.
This will effectively decrease the height of the seat and make it easier to get into the car without hitting my head (plus let me see the traffic lights). It would also make the design a lot cleaner looking and EASIER TO INSTALL.
Pros of this instead of premade brackets: - You will be able to keep your arm and leg instead of giving it to a bracket company.
- You can adjust seat position to your liking
Why you maybe shouldn't: - Premade seat brackets work flawlessly and are bolt on (from what the Facebook guys say)
- Design and fabrication is time consuming (unless you can run Autodesk)
- Unless you are are really good at this stuff, it's not gonna be perfect.
I am gonna try it again on the driver's side and then maybe on the passenger side again if the driver's side design is better.
Yes the bracket is strong and does not move at all.
This is my first time doing this, so please excuse my stupidity.
Stupidity strikes! Please teach me how to make the pictures work.

yeah i dont pay for hosting on this forum so we cant upload directly. i use IMGUR.COM instead, upload pics there then use the link from IMGUR and paste it into your post. should work similar with any other free pic hosting site.

the zx2 seats suck since they provide a high seating position and the comfort level varies from seat to seat. Installing evo seats may sound cool but may not offer a better seating position than the zx2. I would definitely make sure that the seat bottom is less bulky than the zx2 seat. I would also make sure that the seat is not too wide for the car when installed.
