Greetings from Houston TX.
I just bought a 2000 ZX2 from my brother in southern california. 235K miles - I normally wouldn't look at a used car with that many miles but I know its history and he took good care of it. I also wanted a manual transmission car and this fits the bill perfectly. My plans are:
1. Keep it running 2. Fix the AC - a couple years ago they removed the compressor and put a pulley there. That won't work in south east TX after April. So I have some time. Any suggestions on how to proceed with that appreciated. Hate to throw a parts cannon at it but think I will replace everything but the evaporator (good idea or not?) 3. Paint - every surface facing up is highly oxidized but I've done some buffing with compound and there is good paint underneath. Thinking of wet sanding then buffing those oxidized parts.
Already have fixed a couple things. Found replacing the "room" fuse brought the radio/CD player back to life and also the dome lights. Interior is in good shape except for a tear in the drivers side bolster - can anyone recommend good front seat covers?
Can't figure out how to upload photos - help?

Howdy and welcome to the site! For pictures, I'm cheap and don't pay for hosting though the site so you'll have to host them elsewhere like imgur or something then post the links here. Sorry, but I do run this site on a tight budget! As for the AC, a kit from rockauto should have you covered, something like this : www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=10682292&cc=1420489&pt=17507&jsn=474You need to pull the dash to get to the evaporator in the HVAC box so I probably wouldn't be doing that either unless you know that something has got up in there. Plus the kit doesn't have an evaporator either. I'd install the kit and see how it does if it was me, maybe flush it out if you're worried. I ran some cheap seat covers for a while and they worked decently, but I couldn't tell you who made them its been so long. Is your interior cloth or leather? If you've got any other questions feel free to ask if you don't see it posted elsewhere. Some of us here have alot of knowledge about these cars but it doesn't always get posted unless someone asks.

Welcome, I'm one of the others that have been in the ZX2 crowd for a long time (joined TeamZX2 back in 2003) and now have my 3rd ZX2 the first was a 2000 ATX base model, the second was a 2002 ATX Premium edition, and now I am driving a 2000 ATX mid level trim package one, that I am in the process of installing both the premium package and the S/R package onto. The 2002 had 280,000 miles on the clock when I stopped driving it due to rust, and the current 2000 had 280,000 (Rust Free) miles on it when I baught it!
