This is the place for dumb questions so here goes it. When taking the crank pulley off, will it spin counterclockwise? It's s normal threaded bolt in assuming, but In my Haines book it says to turn clockwise to tdc as if that has to be said. Cause I don't want to crank it to TDC and when I go to take the bolt off to get the pulley off it spins the other direction. Ive done plenty of work on my cars but never timing. If I'm just blowing it up more than I need to, yall can say so

I take the crank pulley off and just put the bolt back in the crank to turn it over to TDC.
Crank pulley thread is standard thread, lefty loosey righty tighty

the crank pulley has to come off to put the belt on. There is no need to put it at tdc before taking the pulley off. You will put it back at tdc when you put the pulley back on.
once you take all that stuff off, put the belt and put it all back together then you set it at tdc. You do this with the two little notches in the crank pulley. (they are there you just have to look at it and keep looking at it until you find the two I refer to). once you figure out the notches the turn the crank pulley until the first notch points down to the bolt holding the metal hose on the oil pan. When this is lined up this way it is tdc. Ford designed it like this to make things easy and if you do it this way it will be the easiest way of them all to set the crank. After you do this part you can finish the timing belt install on the upper part of the engine
