MAF Mod

cleaning up casting marks or smoothing any sharp lines is always a good idea. but i would advise against opening up the ID of the MAF body itself.
if youve got a way to tune the factory ecu and you really want a non restrictive MAF you can swap in any MAF you want and need to recalibrate the MAF curve. in the turbo car, with SCT, i run a PMAS HPX 2005+ style slot MAF with a flange welded onto a 2.5in pipe.

Are you suggesting not to open based on the air flow will impact the fuel trim? By cutting off the chunk of metal restriction in the middle, how does that redirect the air flow?

not at all, im saying clean it up but dont open the ID of the maf tube itself as that *could* cause negative effects.
TBH i havent looked at a factory zx2 maf in many years lol...but i think all of my housings are plastic? so im not sure about the chunk of metal restriction in the middle.
got a wideband? try it and see if it affects fueling or not

Johnp sent me pics on how he cleaned his up. I thought ours was plastic but I believe his is metal.

i honestly don't see a point in this "mod", as your engine will only suck as much air as it naturally can. maybe a FI config could benefit, but n/a, i highly doubt this will do anything at all, other than looking cleaner than stock.
