Current Project is 2001 ZX2 Black MTX
I purchased the bone stock 2001 with moonroof used because it was MTX after I returned home from Iraq in 2005 to replace my totaled Red 2000 ZX2 S/R, with the intent of finding another S/R or converting the 2001 into an S/R. I’ve accomplished both.
2001 Black: this car now has all the standard S/R options minus the door decals(NGPO PCM). I’ve removed the Iceman intake and added my own induction system. I also retired the Daisy’s and added 17” Sport Max Racing rims and Toyo tires
Since 2005, I modified a stock Focus exhaust manifold (looks like a header to me) with a new flange to fit the ZX2. I also removed the Borla and installed Trubendz 2.25 stainless steel from the cat to a Magnaflow muffler in the rear.
I installed the Premium Sound system with trunk CD changer (I’m old school). I also installed leather seats. I removed the AC and moved the battery to the left rear of the trunk. I also removed the window washer bottle/pump and installed the sedan washer bottle/pump on the fender for easier access to the alternator. There is so much more room to work in the engine bay now!
While working as a CNC programmer/ machinist, I ported a throttle body and machined a new throttle plate to fit the larger bore, and larger fuel injectors.
I have a used Fidanza aluminum flywheel and I just installed a Spec 2+ clutch and pressure plate. The tranny has the MFactory LSD.
I am in the process of having Moser Engineering make what I need to make a single axle for the passenger side so I can eliminate the intermediate shaft support that bolts to the engine. Then I will begin installing the Focus SVT intake system. Once that is accomplished and I’m bored with it, I will begin installation of the Powerworks Supercharger for Focus SVT.
I'll add photos later.
RE the 2001 Black MTX; The axle didn't work out; I believe it is that different manufacturer's have slight difference in the components you are working with.
I did get the Focus SVT manifold installed but it doesn't run well. I relocated the heater hose that snakes thru the stock manifold against the firewall, the fuel filter on the batter bracket, and the oil filter above the trannie.
No drag and drop for photos?
