I know I'm beating the horse with a dead stick here as everyone has this question, but I've never actually seen a list, I've been a member of TeamZX2 since like 2015? So surely if there was an actual list I'd know about it, only person I can think of off the bat that would probably know is Dareall but I'm sure some others also know, but im looking for a list of all the ECUs notated by year, trans, 4/6 wire maf, trim package (if applicable), a.d for those of you guru's, specs (such as timing, which is best for mpg, etc), both of my 00 S/Rs had the CWQ3 which is great but I averaged 27mpg with it usually (02 manual swapped from 98 mtx with some S/R parts)(max 33.5), and my 01 5spd which I haven't even checked the ECU code yet but a couple tanks ago I calculated 37.22mpg, planning on doing a power steering delete and hopefully topping 40+ (wow I just got totally off topic, apologies, I have a habit of doing that), but if any of yall have a list that would be appreciated and I'm sure others would find it very useful, thanks! ~Lumpy

many years ago i came across a spreadsheet on the interwebs containing box codes and strategies for 1996 to 2003 ford vehicles, so not just ZX2s specifically. But it doesnt have the breakdown as you described exactly. you could filter for just ford escorts with zetec engine then go by the year. 4 wire to 6 wire happened mid model year 1999 so its not exact going by this spreadsheet. what this will show you is the relationship between box codes and the strategy family they fall in.what specifically is different between each box code i couldnt tell you nor what specifically is better for what. in all honesty isnt going to really make a huge difference. if you want to tune for extreme mileage youre going to need to get SCT or Sniper and tune it. we have davidgettle on the site who gets really good mileage with his ATX zx2. if you do acquire a way to tune the factory computer you could ask either of us to help with dialing in your tune. dave moreso for fuel economy, me power. anyhow, i babble too. if youre interested in the spreadsheet i started this message with, i just uploaded it here Strategies.xlsthis is a link to our MEGA Knowledge Base, take a look around in there if you havent done so already.

Thanks! I've done a lot of work to my silver car and if it was running it would be close to 150hp, and thats just with S/R parts, ported tb, and a header, last I checked it was 140hp 151tq but that was before the iceman, tb porting, and header, now im driving an 01 and planned to do some performance mods but it got 37mpg on the 260 mile drive home so I'm just gonna focus on mpg with it, I'm sure of I do a power steering depete and fix the alignment I can top 40mpg, and since its a rust free car I want to fix the lousy body work and body damage and have a nice car to drive, but I'll look into what you said, thanks! ~Lumpy

40mpg can be done, ive done it a few times on long highway trips in my silver car which is my daily/beater.
as for alignments, if you have excessive toe correcting that will absolutely increase mileage.

I've actually gotten 50+ MPG highway (running the A/C) with my car going to Florida from PA, running 93 Octane. The car has A/C, power steering, cruise control (I wasn't using the cruise control, as I had not adjusted it for accuracy yet) it still had that annoying +/- 5 mph thing going on at the time (now fixed, +/- 1 MPH according to my GPS)
At one point I actually got 52MPG with a 1989 Escort LX 4 door Hatch back - bone stock!

My car currently has a bad inner tie rod and the toe is pretty far out, shakes pretty bad, I'm gonna rebuild a rack from a parts car and depower it, i currently get 37mpg with ac off but after fixing that and deleting power steering I'll definitely get 40+mpg, I'll probably just have to end up measuring for a belt the old fashioned way (I'm lazy and don't wanna lol), unless one of you know the serpentine belt length for no power steering with ac, one guy told me a part number on Facebook but unfortunately that was for a belt length with no ac and no ps, either way even being the incorrect one for me I appreciated his help
